SYNOPSIS OF INTERVIEW

Edward S. Radock left high school in 1942 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After months of training in service, air and gunnery radar, he became a plank owner of the newly commissioned USS Baltimore. With emotions high after seeing the effects of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Ed and his shipmates were ready to do battle. They experienced surviving two typhoons and numerous battles, including the battle at the Marshall Islands with Admiral Halsey and the turkey shoot in the Mariana Islands. Privileged to be a part of history, Ed witnessed the gathering of Admiral Nimitz, General MacArthur and President Roosevelt on the USS Baltimore.
